A large group of armed militia members broke into and occupied a building on federal land in Oregon. The group reportedly included three sons of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, who had a tense standoff over federal land with officials in 2014.

Radical militia members from across the country came t0 Harney County, Oregon to protest a ruling that convicted two local ranchers of arson of federal. Protestors have claimed:
“that the federal government had no authority in Harney County.”
The militia occupying the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge building is just a spin-off group from the larger protest. And the protests are intended “to provoke a standoff with the federal government.”

In a phone interview with the Oregonian, Ammond Bundy said that violence was not out of the question if the law enforcement tried to remove them. He called the headquarters building:
“the tool to do all the tyranny that has been placed upon the Hammonds [and][he’s] planning on staying…for years.”
In a message on Facebook Bundy said he planned on establishing the facility as a base for militia across the country. Cliven Bundy has also been advising Steven and Dwight Hammond, not to submit to federal authorities as required on Monday. Instead, he is urging them to go to the Harney County jail and ask for protection. However, CBS had reported that the Hammonds want nothing to do with Bundy.
I’m not sure how to react but this seems to be another clear case of the Bundy family going over the line just to prove a point. Let’s just hope that no real violence occurs and we can get this matter resolved.
